Place to dramatically expand after acquisition

PLACE is poised to dramatically expand its operations after agreeing to acquire a suite of services from Radian Group. The real estate technology firm announced the deal, which adds real estate services and title capabilities to its existing portfolio.

PLACE already completed the purchase of Radian’s real estate services arm this month. The tech company is now in the process of buying Radian’s title business, a transaction expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and standard closing conditions, with specific financial terms not disclosed.

By integrating these two distinct business units, the company aims to bolster its platform with AI-powered consumer experiences, digital closing tools, national title capabilities, and property intelligence. This expansion addresses a gap in the market where traditional processes often lack the necessary technological integration. Illinois aims to boost housing supply.

Ben Kinney, co-founder and CEO of PLACE, highlighted the strategic value of the acquisition in a news release. “These businesses bring deep industry expertise, strong customer relationships and complementary capabilities that align well with PLACE’s mission to support real estate professionals, homeowners and institutional clients with technology-enabled services,” Kinney said.

The integration of these assets will also significantly increase PLACE’s workforce. The company expects to add nearly 300 employees from Radian to its staff, bolstering its institutional offerings for major financial institutions. This move comes as the company looks to solidify its position against competitors who are similarly aggressive in consolidating fragmented services.

Radian CEO Rick Thornberry expressed confidence in the sale, noting the impact the acquired teams have made for customers. “We are proud of the talented teams behind our Real Estate Services and Title businesses and the meaningful impact they have created for customers,” Thornberry said. He believes PLACE is well positioned to build on their success.

The expansion strategy comes alongside several key executive appointments made by PLACE this year. In January, the company welcomed Chris Heller, a former executive at Keller Williams, as its first chief revenue officer. Heller brings a decade of experience in the real estate industry to the role.

Further strategic leadership was added in June with the hiring of Emily Paquette, formerly of Inman, as chief strategy officer. PLACE also brought on Mike Ryan, a veteran from Lower and OJO, as executive vice president of business development last month. These leadership changes complement the recent acquisitions by ensuring the company has the internal expertise to manage its growing footprint.
